Great breakfast in hotel. Very helpful and friendly with reasonable English, especially when we could not open safe or work tv!!

Went to nearby hotel for tour pick up at 8:15 left at 8:40, as they waited for two people who did not turn up. Down into city centre on old trolley bus which dropped us of and picked us up again at various points. Beautiful city. One church was exceptional inside as it was 23 carat gold leaf everywhere. Jesuit of course. Nice walk through to independence square. Morning finished with visit to high point for the city.

Quito is 21miles long but only 1 mile wide and it is built on the sides of a steep valley.

Three course lunch out was OK for Val but not that great for me at Los Fierros. Very cheap though.

Then back to trolley for trip to the Middle of the World. Very overhyped and commercialised, but still worth a visit. Best parts were the experiments where Val won a diploma for putting an egg on a nail. (very few succeed) and then the choclate lecture.

Stopped of for snack at Camino del Solihull which was forgettable and in bed by 9 shattered.
